Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Schumann’s 4th Symphony
Chopin’s first piano concerto is romanticism at its best. There is passion, etheric dreams and finally dance in Polish tradition. Pianist Christina Bjørkøe has earlier performed with Copenhagen Soloists, playing Schumann’s Piano Concerto in 2021.
Schumann’s 4th Symphony is doubtlessly one of his best and most expansive works, a symphonic heavyweight which introduces cyclic material throughout the work, creating an impressive and moving whole.
Copenhagen Soloists is an ensemble specialising in historical performance on period instruments, so-called “historically informed practice”. The ensemble has been performing for 18 years - often as a vocal-instrumental ensemble. On the ensemble’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem to a full Symphonic Hall in 2019 wrote Rachel Einarsson i Jyllands-Posten:
”Five stars to the death mass” and “a welcome entry in the musical offering”.
