ABOUT THE CONCERT

Anna Markova - violin; Jonathan Ofir - conductor

Copenhagen Soloists perform Brahms’ legendary Violin Concerto with Anna Markova as soloist. She has in 2022 performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto with Copenhagen Soloists. I is a first time in newer Danish history, that this work is performed on historical instruments. The program includes Beethoven’s 2nd Symphony. Beethoven is a composer whom Brahms had admired greatly. The symphony still belongs to Beethoven’s ”early period”, yet already features a seriousness and maturity that points forward, especially in the lyrical 2nd movement. As always with Beethoven, it is filled with surprises and drama. The ensemble’s earlier performances of Beethoven symphonies (until now nr. 1, 5 and 7) have been of a pioneering nature within the national musical scene in terms of historically informed performance practice.
