Copenhagen Soloists perform Bach's B-minor Massa work considered to be the greatest and most significant church composition in music history. The work is among the last Bach completed in the final year of his life (1749) - a Missa Tota, a 'complete mass,' which would shine in posterity as a colossal summary of the Baroque church tradition, at the highest possible level.
The ensemble performs the work in a soloistic format - with just 11 singers sharing the choir and solo parts, alongside an orchestra on Baroque instruments. DR has previously broadcast the ensemble's performance of the work.
”Five stars to the death mass” and “a welcome entry in the musical offering”.
