ABOUT THE CONCERT

Copenhagen Soloists, a soloistic vocal and instrumental ensemble which specializes in historically informed performance practice, performs Purcell’s baroque-pearl, the opera Dido and Aeneas, in a concert performance. The work is one of the most popular operas from the Baroque times, and with its relatively short duration (one hour), intense storyline and astounding music, often serves as a pathway to classical music for the wider public. Although it is a concert performance, the dramatic experience sits so strongly within the music itself, that the theatrical experience is carried through through sound. The original English language is also something which makes the story naturally accessible for many. A team of eight singer soloists shares both choir as well as soli, including all roles. The orchestra consists of ten musicians. It will thus be an exciting chamber-musical experience.
